About Chairman
Metro University is founded under the aegis of Dr. (Prof.) Purshotam Lal, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dr B. C. Roy National Awardee, a globally acclaimed interventional cardiologist who has pioneered cardiac care in India. With over 35+ years of clinical practice, 28+ years of building Metro Group (est. 1997) and 15+ years in medical education since Metro College (2010), his journey reflects a sustained commitment to care and learning.
Journey
Recognised as the Father of Interventional Cardiology in India, Dr Lal has played a key role in advancing modern cardiac treatment in the country.
Introduced 20+ cardiology procedures in India and recipient of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dr B. C. Roy National Award, he has built Metro into a network of 12 hospitals across India and internationally. This journey has expanded into education through Metro College (est. 2010), allied health initiatives, and now Metro University—reflecting a shift from care to developing those who deliver it.
Vision
Dr Lal envisions Metro University as an institution focused on clarity of thinking, strong fundamentals and real-world readiness.
The intent is to create individuals who take responsibility early, apply knowledge in practical settings, and contribute meaningfully to society. His approach integrates healthcare, technology and management, while remaining rooted in the realities of India.
