The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Metro University is designed to prepare students for the evolving media, communication and digital content industries. The academic approach focuses on journalism, reporting, media writing, digital media, advertising, public relations, storytelling, media production and responsible communication practice.

Meet the Faculty

Prof. (Dr.) Tasha Singh Parihar

Professor | International Speaker | Academic Leader | Media Researcher

Prof. (Dr.) Tasha Singh Parihar is an accomplished academic, researcher, and education leader with over 17 years of distinguished experience spanning higher education, communication research, media practice, and academic administration. Recognized for her contributions to media education and research, she has established herself as one of India’s leading scholars in the fields of Communication Research, Digital Journalism, Artificial Intelligence in Media, Strategic Communication, Public Speaking, and Media Education.

A recipient of the Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal and 1st recipient of Atul Maheshwari Gold Medal, Dr. Parihar completed her Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Amity University with distinction, securing the highest CGPA in her doctoral coursework. Her academic journey reflects a sustained commitment to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and institutional development.

As an academic leader, Dr. Parihar has served in several key administrative capacities, including Associate Dean, Ph.D. Coordinator, Research Coordinator, Examination Coordinator, Active Learning Mentor, and Curriculum Designer. She has played an instrumental role in designing outcome-based curricula, strengthening research ecosystems, mentoring faculty, implementing quality assurance initiatives, and fostering industry-academia collaboration in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) and global best practices.

Dr. Parihar’s research focuses on Artificial Intelligence in Media, Digital Journalism, Social Media Analytics, Communication Research, Health Communication, Media Ethics, Digital Platforms, OTT Media, Brand Communication, and Emerging Media Technologies. Her scholarly contributions include more than 40 research publications in prestigious Scopus-indexed, UGC CARE-listed, and international journals, several books and book chapters, and numerous conference proceedings. She is also the inventor of the patented innovation titled “Artificial Intelligence-Based System and Method for Automated Editorial Content Curation and Publishing,” reflecting her commitment to advancing AI-driven innovations in journalism and communication.

She is the first author of the forthcoming international book The AI-Driven Media Landscape: Transforming Journalism, Communication, and Ethics in the Digital Age, to be published by Taylor & Francis CRC Press, and has authored the textbook Print Media Editing for postgraduate media education.

A dedicated research mentor, Dr. Parihar has successfully supervised seven Ph.D. scholars to completion, while continuing to guide several doctoral researchers working on contemporary themes such as AI-generated communication, digital journalism, social media behaviour, media framing, and visual communication.

Her academic reputation extends well beyond India. She was invited as a Speaker at the Arab Media Summit 2025, organized by United Arab Emirates University, Dubai, and regularly serves as a keynote speaker, panelist, session chair, external examiner, and resource person at national and international conferences, research workshops, and faculty development programmes. She has also been invited as an external examiner by leading universities across India and serves on the Boards of Studies of multiple higher education institutions.

Dr. Parihar is an active member of prestigious academic organizations, including several scholarly journals as an editorial board member and reviewer.

Throughout her career, she has received numerous recognitions, including the Exemplary Academician of the Year Award, Best Media Research Educator Award, Best Paper Presentation Award, and the Young Journalist Award, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and academic leadership.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Parihar strongly advocates experiential and industry-integrated learning. She has coordinated educational collaborations, media internships, industrial visits, and community engagement initiatives with leading organizations such as Doordarshan, All India Radio, NDTV, TV9 Bharatvarsh, Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujala, and Red FM. She has also spearheaded outreach programmes, research workshops, faculty development initiatives, and student mentoring activities that promote innovation, ethical leadership, and social responsibility.

Driven by the belief that education should inspire inquiry, creativity, and societal transformation, Dr. Parihar continues to mentor future media professionals, researchers, and educators while contributing to the advancement of communication scholarship at national and global levels.

About

Associate Professor | Media Academician | Former Broadcast Journalist

Dr. Arunesh K. Dwivedi is a media professional-turned-media academician with over 18 years of experience spanning both the media industry and higher education. His professional journey reflects a unique blend of industry expertise and academic excellence, which is required to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world media practices.

Before entering academia, Dr. Dwivedi worked as a Producer and Anchor with India’s leading media organisations, including ETV, Zee News, IBN7, News24, CNEB News, and All India Radio, New Delhi.

In Media Education, Dr. Dwivedi has had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students at several reputed institutions, including Mangalayatan University, Sharda University, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jamia Millia Islamia, the Gulshan Kumar Film and Television Institute of India (GKFTII), ISOMES (affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut), and LLDIMS and Trinity Institute (affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi).
